The Three Lives of Maggie McGuire

Part I

Beside the Sea

She said it came to her in a dream,
These were the words
Came to call her name
We all have a garden
That is hidden down deep
That we have sewn curiosity
Then nurtured with our weep
We all have a garden
That is hidden down deep
That we cultivated softly
And then we violently reap
Many from the land that talked of the sea
Walked through the shores of their destiny
Sold their dreams for a place in the sky
They were robbed of life and a place to die
Let the elders tell us
Tell us of the Eve
Let our fathers
Never be deceived...
And those who search for the life supreme
Were given the honors of saints like eve
And so they traveled fast and far
To a mystical place behind the stars
Watch the sun sink
Let us gather, let us be
Never to be named
But never to be restrained...
She said it came to her in a dream,
These were the words
Came to call her name
We all have a garden
That is hidden down deep
That we have sewn curiosity
Then nurtured with our weep
We all have a garden
That is hidden down deep
That we cultivated softly
And then we violently reap
So the lives of those who were without
Were sent through the land to wander about
And on the dawn of the annual screaming
One will rise like the saints of eve
As light encircles
Entrances those surrounding
In the flames
In her flame
In the light
By the sea

Part II

That Way Now

Your gaze hovers in the thunderclouds
Around jagged slopes
And chasms within me
Subtle the weaver of webs
The canyon quakes again
Snuggle beside me for a while
She said come to bed
Rich is the man with songs to sing
And stories to recite
He will seek wealth only to remain
In poverty to his delight
Why follow such well worn trails after all
That is no destiny
If you really want inside me again
Follow the love you left on the winds
Then wait she said
If I come
Then I am yours for the asking
If not then I will never return again...
The ram batters its way soul deep
Someone asks for their drink
Offering some smoke and a candlestick
Shaking a rich man with honest palms
And knowing that this is why drinking
And driving do not mix
She is introduced to someone
Or something
What was their name she asks
I just don't remember it
That way now...
Serving fresh made coffee with cream
It is all very strong
And hearing the cries of children in the
Invisible present time distance
She feels the limitations of her existence
She asks what is this love?
Was it ever real or free?
Then turns towards some little sound
Your gaze hangs in the thunder clouds
Distracted by the lightning somehow
Ominous but weakening in the shared joy
Of breaking bread
That you once
Gave me a chance
Yet somehow
But I just don't remember it
That way now...

 Part III

MiLady of the Lakeside

Like little birds of a feather
That meet in the night
Hearts beating rhythms as
They take flight
Milady wears a gown of the sky
And there is nothing in her heart she need hide
Dressed in shooting stars
With eyes of the moon
A mirror for the souls sides
Cry for a moment then in jest
With the wink of an eye
She is at my side
Just me and Milady of the Lakeside
To the daughter of a song unsung
She is meeting and dreaming
Of things beyond the Earthly
Of things divine yet worldly
Yes Milady is a sensual pearl
She is just looking for another world
A kiss upon the wind
A change in the flow of tears
As the dawn sleeps taking her hand
She makes her wish and
She drifts off from this place and time
Just me and Milady of the Lakeside
Like a memory kept safely stored
In a chest of dreams
To return and retire
To be closer and freer
With the long traveled passage of time
Milady sings of the Winters fires
And her long lost forgotten desires
Toward the child in heart
A spark of life in the trees
A bird whistles in the tongues of witches
To this lovers song
Milady dreams of the Mother moon
And she sings an ancient forgotten tune
She forever dances on the ripples of her love shines
Just me and Milady of the Lakeside
Sometimes living
Sometimes lost
Questioning her yesterdays
And all the paths she had crossed
Sometimes I see her walking in shadows
Sometimes I see her looking for a new tomorrow
She is
Just looking for another place and time
Just me and Milady of the Lakeside
Just me and Milady of the Lakeside
